Chairperson Hosts Reception for Ballyholland Primary School
On Monday 20 June, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick hosted a reception for Primary 3 pupils from Ballyholland Primary School in the Council Chamber, Monagahan Row to recognise the achievement of Mikel Farrugia, Ciaran Coghlan and Caleb Savage who were the winners of Newry 2020 Minecraft Competition.
The competition was organised by Newry 2020 in partnership with other local community organisations. The boys designed a City Park for Newry at the Albert Basin. The winners were praised for their exciting vision for the future of Newry City.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Chairperson, Councillor Fitzpatrick expressed her pride and delight at the boys’ achievements saying “It is wonderful to see such talent and vision at a young age. The pupils are truly inspirational and I am very proud of their achievements. I would like to congratulate them on all of the hard work that has been put in and I have nothing but praise their parents and Newry 2020 for nurturing their talents”.
Cllr Fitzpatrick continued, “I would urge all of the Primary 3 pupils to continue to work hard and enjoy being a part of school life. Each and every one of them has their own individual talents, and I have no doubt they will continue to grow and contribute greatly to the community of Ballyholland and the wider Newry, Mourne and Down District.”
