Chairperson Announces Charity Ball

The date and venue has been set for Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson’s very first Charity Ball.

Friday 12 May 2017 at the Canal Court, Newry will be the highlight of the District’s social calendar, not to mention a very important fundraiser for Newry, Mourne and Down’s five nominated charities, Southern Area Hospice, Mind Your Mate and Yourself (MYMY) & PIPS, The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust and Autism H.A.N.D.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick said, “I am delighted to host the Council’s inaugural Charity Ball and I would like to invite everyone in the local community and beyond to come together to enjoy an evening of entertainment and fundraising.”  

“I would particularly like to extend a sincere thank you to our sponsors Re-Gen Waste Ltd. and Felix O’Hare for their invaluable financial contribution and to the Canal Court and McCadden for their generous in-kind support, all of which will ensure that more money will go directly to our four charities who work so tirelessly throughout our district for vulnerable people and those in need”.

This glittering gala night promises to be a sophisticated evening of delicious food and drink, fantastic entertainment and excellent company.  Guests will be welcomed on arrival with a sparkling champagne reception sponsored by the Canal Court Hotel before being invited to sit for dinner. 

Q Radio’s Kevin McAllister will compère the event and entertain guests throughout the night with plenty of quick wit and banter. No charity ball could end without dancing and guests will be unable to resist five piece band The Nooks’ unique blend of talent and charisma as they belt out everything from 'hillbilly to hip hop'.
