Chairperson Announces Charities for 2017/2018
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson Councillor Roisin Mulgrew has announced Davina’s Ark, Mental Health Forum and Women’s Aid Armagh Down as the three charities the Council will be supporting throughout her term as Chairperson.
Councillor Mulgrew said, “I have chosen these charities because of the work they do to transform lives and how they make a real difference to people in the Newry, Mourne and Down area. The Council has as one of its strategic objectives the empowerment and improvement of the capacity of our communities and organisations such as these are vital to the Council in achieving this objective.”
Councillor Mulgrew continued, “The charities will be putting together a number of exciting and innovative fundraising events to highlight the work they do and I am confident that the community of Newry, Mourne and Down district will, as always, give their full support.”

It engages directly with service providers in planning, delivering and monitoring mental health services both locally and regionally.
Women’s Aid Armagh Down provides vital support and accommodation to women and children affected by domestic violence in the local community. They provide a quality based holistic service to women and children affected by all forms of domestic violence and work to educate, challenge and co-operate with external agencies, and the wider community, with a vision to eradicate domestic violence.
