Chairman Hosts Long Service Awards
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairman, Councillor Mark Murnin hosted a reception on Thursday 25 April 2019 to recognise five employees who have each attained 40 years continuous public service.
Speaking at the event Councillor Murnin said, “It is my absolute pleasure to present these long standing staff awards; tonight is a way of saying thank you and to recognise your loyalty, commitment and dedication to public service.
“It is a privilege to have such talented, innovative and motivated staff who make all the difference to our rate payers and other stakeholders. Without the skills and commitment of all our staff the Council would not be able to achieve its corporate objectives, nor would we be able to maintain the smooth running of our operations.”
Councillor Murnin concluded, “During my term of office I have worked with many staff throughout the Council and I can say firmly that all staff carry out their duties to the highest professional standard.”
Chief Executive of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, Mr Liam Hannaway agreed, saying, “I am very proud of the exceptionally talented and committed staff who work hard to achieve the Council’s ambitions and make the Council the efficient and welcoming place it is today.”
