Cat/Dog owners be aware of poisonings in the Old Warrenpoint Road area, Newry
A local vet has advised that all dog & cat owners in the area of the Old Warrenpont Road, Newry to keep their pets inside after a spate of poisonings.
One local cat owner had to watch her cat die in excruciating pain. If you notice the following symptoms in your pet, please take it to your vet immediately.
Symptoms: (Depending on how much poison has been ingested)
- Loss of appetite
- Muscle twitching / tremors
- Abdominal pain
- Change in behaviour (anxiety / excitability)
- Ataxia (loss of coordination)
- Vomiting (possibly with blood)
- Diarrhoea (possibly with blood)
- Increased salivation
- Increased heart / respiratory rate
- Fever
- Seizures
- Loss of consciousness
