Councillor Murnin said, “The Council is committed to promoting and protecting Irish language through its Irish language Strategy and it was an honour to present the County Down winner of this all-Ireland Art competition. Congratulations to all the parents, staff and school governors who made the commitment to provide Irish medium education for the children of Lower Mourne.”
Seán Ó Murchadha from Conradh na Gaeilge(Gaelic League) said, “Thank you to Niall Ó Luachráin, Príomhoide (Principal) for the warm welcome. It was a pleasure to visit the area and be part of the prize-giving. The standard of artwork by the children has been astonishing. They are great ambassadors for the Irish language and fine examples of the benefits of raising children bilingually.”
