Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Opens Books of Condolence For Those Who Lost Their Lives in Orlando, Florida

The citizens of Newry, Mourne and Down District can express their condolences for the many lives lost in the Orlando attack on Sunday 12 June, 2016 by signing a book of condolence.

Books of Condolence are located at the Council’s Newry Office, Monaghan Row and Downpatrick Office, Downshire Civic Centre, Ardglass Road. Books of Condolence will also be available at the Sean Holywood Arts Centre, Newry and the Down Arts Centre, Downpatrick. The books will be available for signing during normal opening hours.

On Monday 13 June, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick was first to sign the book and said, "The opening of these Books of Condolence will allow the good people of our district to send their solidarity and condolences to the people of Orlando. I offer my sympathies to the families and friends of all those who have lost their lives.”

Mr Damien McShane, Chairperson of Newry Rainbow accompanied the Chairperson and he expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the Florida community.
