Banish Those Winter Blues at Sean Hollywood Arts Centre and Newry Town Hall
Music, comedy, theatre and the arts are the hallmark of Sean Hollywood Arts Centre and Newry Town Hall, and the new 2019 programme is certainly set to delight. The new Winter/Spring brochure has something for everyone.
From 11 through 31 January, Twenty 7, an intriguing exhibition of poetry and art by Kevin Dwan will be at the Arts Centre. The display, which is part of the visual arts programme, is mysterious and will carry the viewer to a magical world.
For fans of witty musicals, the Newry Chamber Music presentation of If You Can Find Me on Thursday 17 January at 8pm in the Arts Centre will be a must see performance. The evening is celebration of the music of the legendary Stephen Sondheim, and features rising stars from the Northern Ireland Opera Studio Artists Programme.
Kicking off Newry Town Hall’s new programme on 18-26 January, is the Newry Pantomime Players which presents Aladdin, a magical adventure full of songs, music, dancing, and some familiar faces.
Theatre lovers will want to book their places on Monday 21 January and Wednesday 23 January at the Sean Hollywood Arts Centre for two programmes. On Monday, the Bruiser Theatre Company presents A Day with Bruiser, a one-day crash course for GCSE and A-Level students. The course focuses on skills development as well as providing the students with an understanding of the industry. A short performance rounds out this exciting day.
On Wednesday, Kabosh Theatre Company presents The Box. Written by Carlo G?bler the play tells the fascinating true story of Co Down nurse Olive Swanzy during her service in World War I. While caring for those on the front line, Olive kept autograph books documenting her time and those she encountered.
For anyone who’s ever wanted to create that eye catching floral display, An Evening of Floral Art, hosted by the Newry Floral Arts Society in Sean Hollywood Arts Centre at 7.30pm, is the workshop for you. The event will teach those taking part techniques and tricks of the trade to create beautiful floral designs.
