Ballynahinch Olympics FC Celebrate Border Cup Win at Council Reception
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Deputy Chairperson, Councillor Terry Andrews hosted a reception in Downshire Civic Centre on Friday 7 February 2020, to honour the achievements of Ballynahinch Olympic Soccer Team on winning the Border Cup.
At the reception Councillor Andrews expressed his pride and delight at the team’s achievement and commended the players on the hard work and commitment they put into their training schedules to achieve such a fantastic win. He also paid tribute to the parents and mentors for their input which, he acknowledged, was vital to this victory.
Deputy Chairperson, Councillor Andrews said, “This is an important milestone for these young soccer players who have competed in and won the Border Cup. There is no doubt that with their dedication, commitment and sporting ability, they will continue to improve and achieve yet more success in competition for their club bringing more sporting glory to Newry, Mourne and Down.”
At the reception Councillor Andrews presented an engraved crystal bowl to the team, following which he took the opportunity to speak informally with the players and their mentors.
