Artisan Market Bound for Newcastle
A new Artisan Market in Newcastle has been announced, with the first one to take place outside the Newcastle Centre on Saturday 5 May 2018, from 10am to 3pm.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Roisin Mulgrew, announced the latest Artisan Market for the District which is being launched in partnership with Mourne Markets, local business consultant Michael Donnelly, and the Council’s Enterprise, Regeneration and Tourism department.
Councillor Mulgrew said, “The Council is very pleased to support the piloting of Artisan Markets in our area and is encouraging local producers and craft makers to get involved. This innovative scheme is one that we hope will become a regular attraction in the town. Not only will it provide an outlet for our local producers to showcase and sell their work, it will also encourage visitors to the town and the wider area.”
The Council has already signalled its commitment to local produce with support for the Make it Local programme and it is expected that the Newcastle Artisan Market will make a valuable contribution to the success of that initiative.
Councillor Mulgrew concluded, “I know that this new Artisan Market in Newcastle will be a great success and will help to deliver a number of our objectives to promote our district as a premier tourist destination and to provide increased employment opportunities.
“I hope everyone comes along to Newcastle on 5 May—there will be something for everyone.”
