Mourne Coastal Flavours Food and Drink Weekend Brings A Taste Of Local Produce
The Mourne Coastal Flavours Food and Drink Weekend will celebrate the range of fantastic local food and drink produce from Newry, Mourne and Down district from Friday 25 May to Monday 28 May 2018.
Stretching along the Mourne Coastal route between Warrenpoint, Rostrevor, Kilkeel, Annalong and Newcastle, diners will be spoilt for choice as restaurants, cafés and pubs serve up bespoke menus and unique food experiences to celebrate the bustling Mourne Coastal food and drink scene.
The food and drink weekend has been organised Newry, Mourne and Down District Council in conjunction with the award winning Mourne Seafood Cookery School and NI Food Tours, are encouraging everyone to try something new or book a table at a tried-and-tested favourite to celebrate. Whether you live locally or want to visit for lunch, a day or a short break for feasting, the Mourne Coastal area welcomes you.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Roisin Mulgrew said, “Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is delighted to support this event, as the region has a growing reputation for great food, we have renowned chefs and excellent food and drink produce. Food and drink has become increasingly important to tourism as they offer visitors the opportunity to learn about our heritage, landscape and culture and meet our people. The Mourne Coastal Flavours Food and Drink weekend will give everyone a chance to experience the tasty offerings from our award winning local producers. This is the perfect opportunity for residents and visitors to get out and about, explore our beautiful scenic costal line and unfold a number of hidden tourism locations across the region.”
Head Chef of the award winning Mourne Seafood Cookery School, Kilkeel and Director of Roger Moynihan Consultancy said, “Mourne Seafood Cookery School is delighted to be working in partnership with Newry, Mourne and Down District Council to showcase our food and drink offerings. This is a great opportunity for all chefs, restaurateurs and local producers from Warrenpoint, Rostrevor, Kilkeel, Annalong and Newcastle to participate in the Mourne Coastal Flavours Food and Drink Weekend. Over the past three to four years the increase in use of fresh locally caught seafood, Mourne beef and lamb and locally grown vegetables has exploded on menus across the region, adding culinary variety on many signature dishes which is great to see.
